Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than
a locomotive…….
If you didn’t already know it, change is
inevitable yet growth is optional. According to John Naisbitt,
author of Megatrends, if the automobile industry had
kept pace with the changes in technology, a Lexus today would
cost only two dollars, it would travel at the speed of sound,
and it would travel six hundred miles on a thimble of
gasoline. Change is one of the few things in life that is a
constant. Change never stops. Change always has an impact on
you. The reality is, your life is about change. Ignoring it
won’t make it go away!
As I embark on my journey into 2003 as your
chapter President, I invite each of you to join me in a
challenge to embrace change and break out of our comfort
zones. Your comfort zone is unique to you. The comfort zone
can be a dangerous place in a constantly changing world. If
you are comfortable in your job, you probably aren’t pushing
yourself to do better. If you are satisfied with your
performance reviews and average 3.5% annual increases, you
probably aren’t performing at your highest level. If you are
content with your performance you don’t have the competitive
advantage. Get Uncomfortable!! Get involved, make a
difference!
Some of you may have already noticed the initial
stages of change in our local and National operations with the
introduction of the Associate Members, our newsletter format,
enhanced membership meeting locations and content, and
aggressive actions to understand and meet the needs of our
membership. It is only through your involvement and desire,
even in the most minute ways, that our organization will
develop our industries future leaders.
So when you get that call to action from one of
our committee chairs or board members …climb aboard and enjoy
the ride; take action and get uncomfortable. Involvement and
moving forward can be faster than a speeding bullet and
certainly more powerful than a locomotive!

NEW MEMBERSHIP MEETING PLACE
Many
have spoken & we have listened! We’re changing the
location of our bi-monthly general membership luncheon
meetings to Lee’s Lakeside, 431 E. Central Blvd., Orlando.
407-841-1565. There is free parking across the street from the
restaurant or if you choose to park in their garage, the cost
will be $1.00 per hour after the first hour that will not be
included in the luncheon price.
The meeting charge will stay the same at $25.00
for pre-registration or $30.00 without reservations or billed.
We feel the new atmosphere will allow for many of our members
who have a policy of casual work attire to attend without
having to “dress up” for a luncheon. Many of our suburban
corporate companies and our apartment communities have found
the casual attire to make a better work environment, thus we
are making similar changes to encourage all of our members,
their co-workers, and associates to attend, relax, and have
fun while networking with our peers. We hope you will like our
change too.
If you plan to pay at the door; we now accept MC
and Visa.

CONGRATULATIONS GLORIA!
I am very
pleased to announce that the Institute of Real Estate
Management has selected Ms. Gloria Dowling as a recipient of
an IREM Minority Outreach Scholarship. We are hopeful that, as
a recipient of the scholarship, she will soon become a CPM
designee and an active and involved member of our chapter.
I will also take this opportunity to remind you
that the purpose of this program is to increase minority CPM
membership in the Institute by providing minority real estate
managers an incentive to participate by reducing the financial
burden of attaining membership.
If you or someone that you know is interested in
applying please contact
me. We will help you through the application process.
Spread the word!
Once again, congratulations
Gloria!
