News from the President……

Following up on my letter last month, your Board has decided to extend a special invitation to our next membership meeting.  While the program, our annual “Tips, Tricks & Traps” meeting, will surely be interesting, we will look for your feelings on whether or not you feel you would benefit from a designation promotion/public relations program.  I am acutely aware of the significant dues we all pay, not only to IREM, but maybe CCIM, BOMA, etc.  That’s why we need your input.  Let’s take a look at what the chapter does for you and how we can do it better.  A two-minute presentation will give you an overview of where your dues go now, and then we’d like to spend 10-15 minutes discussing next year.

Thanks, Lou

ANNUAL ELECTION

At our annual meeting luncheon on Tuesday, September 11th, we will be voting on the following slate of officers for the upcoming year.  They are: Mike McConnell, CPM President, Robin Stinson, CPM President-elect, and Steven Jankowski, CPM Secretary/Treasurer.

Attention Candidates

Do you still need to take the Ethics course?  Have you completed your education requirements and just haven’t written your management plan?  If so, you are in luck!  The following courses are scheduled in Florida in the coming weeks so that you can fulfill your requirements before the end of the year.

If you still need to write your management plan you can now choose to fulfill the management plan requirement by completing Writing and Using Property Management Plans (BDM602) and completing and passing a Management Plan Skills Assessment (MPSA).  Like the traditional written management plan, the Management Plan Skills Assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of the knowledge and skills required to be a Certified Property Manager®.  All of the skills required to complete a traditional written management plan will be required to complete the MPSA.  Register now to fulfill your management plan requirement!

Ethics for the Real Estate Manager (ETH800) will be offered in Ft. Lauderdale on September 21st.  For those who still need this class this will be the last offering in Florida this year.  For additional information or to register for the course, please contact Libby McEwen, CPM at (305) 358-1000 or by e-mail at: libby@allenmorris.com.

Writing and Using Property Management Plans (BDM602) will be held October 16-17 in Tampa.  For those individuals who are getting ready to prepare their management plan, this course will teach you everything you need to know.  For additional information or to register for this course, please contact Libby McEwen, CPM at (305) 358-1000 or by e-mail at: libby@allenmorris.com.

Management Plan Skills Assessment (MPSA01) will be held October 18-19 in Tampa.  If you have completed your educational requirements for the CPM designation but haven’t yet written your management plan, this new alternative to the management plan may be just what you need to obtain your CPM designation without having to write the traditional management plan!  For additional information or to register for this course, please contact Libby McEwen, CPM at (305) 358-1000 or by e-mail at: libby@allenmorris.com.
