$50-100 DUES INCREASE
POSSIBLE FOR CPMs
I knew that would catch your
eye. If the chapter were to embark on a long-range plan (2-3
years) to raise the awareness (and value) of the CPM designation, is that
something you think would be worthwhile doing? I opened the door
to this issue some months ago with the formation of a task force to examine
how we promote our chapter. Most of us spent about $5,000 and countless
hours getting our designation. Although we now pay over $500 a year
to keep our national and local memberships, could we get a better return
by investing another $50-100 per member promoting the CPM designation locally?
I think we can.
As some of you know, I am
also actively involved in the Florida CCIM Chapter. The CCIMs have
always focused on designation promotion statewide, primarily through Florida
Trend magazine and the Florida Real Estate Journal. Next year, they
may change their focus to the local business journals (such as OBJ, here
in Orlando). I believe that by piggybacking on the CCIM plan, CPMs
could get a huge return by doing joint advertising. In 2002 and 2003,
I will have the honor of serving as your IREM Regional Vice President.
Next week at our regional conference, I hope to discuss this designation
promotion idea with next year’s IREM chapter presidents. Before that,
I’d like some idea from you folks how you feel about it. Please e-mail
me at Lou_Nimkoff@CNLReit.com.
I appreciate your time.
NEXT YEARS’ SLATE
Below you will find the report
from the Nominating Committee with next year’s proposed slate of chapter
officers. This will be the second time you can vote Mike McConnell,
CPM in as president. (Hopefully, he’ll stick around this time.)
Mike has been involved with the chapter for many years and has given a
great deal of time to us. I appreciate the consideration from Robin
Stinson, CPM and Steve Jankowski, CPM to continue in their current positions
for another year, and give Mike the opportunity to serve in a capacity
he well deserves.
MARRIAGES…
As I was celebrating my own
anniversary last weekend at a hotel on the gulf coast, I was surprised
to see Bob Collester, our former chapter administrator. He was there
to celebrate his marriage to his new wife, Nellie. Bob is a good
guy and I know you all join me in wishing him best wishes.
Hope you’re enjoying your
summer and getting some time off!
Best
regards, Lou
Nimkoff, CPM, CCIM
Nominating Committee:
The nominating committee
is pleased to announce the following slate of officers for the year 2002.
They are Mike McConnell,CPM President; Robin Stinson,CPM President-elect;
and Steve Jankowski, CPM Secretary/Treasurer. We will be taking nominations
from the floor at the September meeting and voting for the nominees.
If you would like your vote to count or would like to present other nominees
and will not be able to attend the September luncheon, please email Meridythe
Kanaga, CPM Administrator at admin@irem-centralfl.org.
Committee Volunteers:
As we approach our new year
for IREM with a new slate of officers, we also need some new volunteers
to help in our committees. The different committees are as follows:
Membership, Nominating, Education, Program, Income/Expense Analysis, ARM,
Legislative, "Friends of IREM", Minority Outreach, Golf Tournament/Community
Service. The duties of each of these committees are described in
the Chapter directory. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself
with these committees, and let us know what area you would like to serve
our chapter. This is the best way to give back to IREM a little of
what they give us on a regular basis, plus get to know some great people
by working together. Please email or call Mike McConnell, CPM at
mmcconnell@colliersarnold.com
or 407-843-1723.
Membership Information Changes:
You should have received
your 2001 Chapter Directory by now. It is important that you keep
us up to date on any changes to your membership information - phone &
fax numbers, email and mailing addresses. We are striving to use
email and fax whenever possible to communicate with our membership.
If you did not receive your directory or have any update changes to your
information, please contact Meridythe Kanaga, CPM our Administrator.
