from the President……
We
are now in the so-called “doldrums of summer”, but things don’t seem to
be slowing down on my end at all. We’ve had so much going on in IREM,
my head is still spinning. We’ve had a visit from our national president,
a golf tournament, new directories, new ARMs, more educational offerings,
new administrators, and lots more. While each of us is busy with
our day-to-day jobs, I am so grateful for the extra time and effort given
to our chapter. Thanks to all of you who keep our chapter going.
Have
a happy summer, but don’t slow down!
Best
regards, Lou

IREM NATIONAL PRESIDENT VISITS ORLANDO
On July 10th, E. Craig Suhrbier,
CPM, our national president, visited our chapter and spoke to chapter members
at our after-hours social at Metrowest Country Club. Among the issues,
Mr. Suhrbier spoke about were the new MPSA (Management Plan Skills Assessment),
and IREM’s increasing international affiliations.
NEW CHAPTER ADMINISTRATOR
As of July 1st, our 1989
chapter president, Meridythe Kanaga, CPM, has become our new chapter administrator.
Bob Collester has done a fantastic job of keeping our chapter going over
these past two years. However, Meridythe is bringing a perspective
as a chapter member and past president that will take us to a new level.
Many thanks to Bob for all his hard work, and welcome (back?) to Meridythe!
Memo from Meridythe:
Effective July 1, 2001, I
will be your new IREM Chapter #60 Administrator. For some, you have
been my IREM friends for a long time, and others we will soon get to know
each other.
After to moving to Orlando
in 1983 from Michigan with a short stay in Chicago, I managed the First
Union building until 1987 at Orange & Central. In 1984 I received
my CPM designation and became a very involved volunteer for the Chapter
by being Treasurer for 2 years, Vice President and then President in 1989.
In 1987 the Chapter presented me the Manager of the Year Award. During
the time of my commercial management, I was also a member of BOMA
and was Vice President one year.
In 1987 Mark Management,
Inc. was formed as a family owned business to manage apartments, single-family
homes, and homeowners associations. It has since branched into the
insurance market offering everything from personal lines of property and
casualty and retirement financial planning.
On a personal note, my husband,
Rick and I live in Altamonte Springs, have two married children, and are
the proud grandparents of 3 granddaughters.
I look forward to working
with the Chapter members and Friends and trust that my personal IREM experiences
with be an asset to our members.

NEW “FRIEND OF IREM”
At the June 7th Executive
Council meeting, we voted to allow a new company, The Roofing Connection,
Inc., to apply to become a Friend of IREM. While we don’t normally
allow new companies to become Friends, The Roofing Connection’s principals,
Ed Wallick and Jim Thomas, both formerly of GRI, are in the same business
and have a history with many of us in the chapter. Therefore, we
felt that this is in keeping with the spirit and intent of the Friends
program guidelines. If you have any comments about this company and/or
the principals becoming Friends, please address your comments to our Friends
committee chair, Nancy Hanson (nhanson@carterusa.com).

Anyone wishing to submit
