 President's Message

Dear members,

I hope this message finds you all well as we head into the end of the year. It has been my pleasure to again serve as chapter president. As I mentioned in my previous message, this has been a great year for our chapter in many aspects. I know that our in-coming president, Ann Reisch, will do a great job, and I look forward to assisting her in the coming year. She has an ambitious set of goals that will continue to strengthen our chapter and provide excellent service to the membership. I encourage the general membership, if you have not been involved in a chapter activity, to consider being a part of Ann's team for 2006. And of course our annual installation dinner will be held on Tuesday, November 8th. I hope you're planning to attend; it will be a very enjoyable evening as we celebrate this year's accomplishments and officially usher in our newest chapter president.

Thank You,
Scott Pollock, CPM
President, Chapter 60

 Highlights from the Leadership  Conference

By Helen MacLennan

In an effort to become more involved with our local IREM chapter, I accepted the chapter’s invitation to attend the annual Leadership Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida, this year. I went with the hope of learning about chapter leadership. What I left with, was much more than expected.

This was a high-energy conference packed with informative and fun sessions. Topics included strategic planning, activating people in your organization, leadership, chapter management, and credential awareness. Just as importantly, there was ample opportunity for networking and making new friends.

The Chapter Star Recognition Program was unveiled in the opening session of the conference. This exciting new program provides each chapter with a planning and self-evaluation system.

The conference was certainly worth the time spent, and I would encourage everyone involved in the leadership of an IREM chapter to make plans to attend the next annual Regional Leadership Conference. I’ll see you there!

 Apartment Association Tradeshow

Stephanie Dasher, ARM, Nancy Lovell, ARM & Monica Perez.

October 31, 2005

The Central Florida IREM chapter participated in the annual Tradeshow hosted by the Apartment Associatioon of Greater Orlando, with about 1500 participants and over 500 vendors in attendance. The show offered a wonderful opportunity for Minority Outreach Chair Stephanie Dasher, ARM, and several other IREM members, to speak with members of the apartment community about the advantages and opportunities involved in being a part of IREM. The IREM booth had 210 prospective members inquire about the association and its educational courses. A certificate for an ARM course valued at $715 will be awarded to a winner chosen at the Executive Council Meeting on November 10th. The booth also had four vendors express an interest in becoming a friend of IREM. Overall the tradeshow was a great success! Special thanks to the following people for helping Stephanie Dasher set up and run the booth: Margarita Archilla; Jessica Dolan; Jennifer Grimes; Meridythe Kanaga, CPM; Rick Kanaga; Nancy Lovell, ARM; and Monica Perez.
