| President's Message
|
Dear members,
Well, it's October and that signifies several things, one of which is that next month we'll hold our annual installation dinner and swear in our new slate of officers. I hope that you'll make plans to attend this year's dinner, to be with friends and colleagues and to welcome our new officers. This year has been a year of many successes for our chapter. We received an award at the spring legislative conference for "most improved" chapter with our overall growth in membership in 2004 and have exceeded those numbers again in 2005. It has been very gratifying for me as chapter president to experience this continued growth in all categories. This past month, our general membership meeting was held at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women, the benefactors of our annual charity golf tournament. It was their way of saying thank you for your support over the past eight years. In that time the event has risen just shy of $100,000. We have held several educational classes and continue to lead the region in that important aspect of chapter service to our candidates. Also in September the regional conference was held in St. Petersburg , and the chapter was again well represented. Several attendees were "first timers" and came away with a better understanding of the bigger IREM picture.
On an individual level, our chapter is represented with nationally certified teachers of the IREM faculty. Our own Robin Stinson will be the region's RVP in 2006, and Lou Nimkoff is serving as a senior Vice President of IREM National. I've said it before, but it bears repeating: Our success depends on your involvement, and the accomplishments we've achieved are a direct reflection of that commitment.
If you haven't had a chance to share in the success, give it a try! Invest some time because you will enjoy the rewards.
Thank You,
Scott Pollock, CPM President, Chapter 60

| September Luncheon
|
“Tour of Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children & Women” - Courtesy of Orlando Regional Healthcare Foundation.
Our last membership meeting was a very exciting one. We had the opportunity to experience the passion and dedication of the staff at Arnold Palmer, who make miracles an everyday occurrence, as well as see how our contributions have made a difference in the hospital.
As a thank you for all the past donations the chapter has given to the hospital from our golf tournaments, the hospital donated the money from our luncheon to the IREM Foundation’s Katrina Fund, which was matched by a member to raise a total of $1,700.
The luncheon was topped off with a sneak peak of the new 400,000 sf Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. The new hospital is scheduled to open for the spring of 2006.

Our chapter's own Julie Miller, CPM, who retired as regional director of real estate at CVS/pharmacy, was featured in the ICSC (International Council of Shopping Center) monthly publication, Shopping Centers Today.
"Julie Miller is the iron woman of retail site selection," said Gary M. Ralston, CPM president of Winter Park, Fla.-based Florida Retail Development, who as head of Commercial Net Lease Realty frequently sat at the other side of the negotiating table. "Day in and day out, for decades, she has searched out some of the best locations in the country. Julie has touched innumerable stores and helped shape the company that she has dedicated her outstanding work toward." She was one of only 12 female members of IREM when she got her pin (#3151) in 1969.
